Christine Marie (Antos) Cohen

Christine Marie (Antos) Cohen passed away peacefully at her home in San Diego CA on December 3, 2025, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Christine was born in Amsterdam, NY on July 14, 1945 to Joseph and Frances (Kulpa) Antos and spent many of her early years in Amsterdam and Cobleskill, NY as well as Montreal, Canada. She studied nursing at St. Mary’s Institute before transitioning to becoming a full-time homemaker and raising her 5 daughters. In the years that followed, she received an Associate Degree in business from Fulton Montgomery Community College. In 1988, she moved to Niskayuna and remained in the Glenville area while working as a legal assistant. She started a small mobile business teaching computer skills to children in the 1980s. Later she obtained her real estate license and became certified in home inspections. She retired and moved to California in 2020 to enjoy the sunshine.

Christine found her greatest joy in her children and grandchildren, her garden and her beloved pets. She loved watching the birds through the changing seasons and had a deep compassion for animals. She and her certified therapy dog visited nursing homes to bring comfort and happiness to the residents. From spring through fall, she could often be found outside tending her vegetable and flower gardens. She lovingly took on the responsibility of caring for her mother, Frances, in the years prior to her passing in 2002.

Christine was predeceased by her parents, Joseph Antos and Frances Vitcha; brother, Daniel Antos; and grandson, Jonathan Lander.

She is survived by her 5 daughters: Cassandra (Casey) Gerdes of CA, Laureen Gerdes-Lander (Michael) of NY, Christine Gerdes of NY, Teresa Moore (John) of VA, and Joanna Laubisch (Scott) of FL; and 7 grandchildren: Rachel Lander, Makenna Moore, Reilly Moore, Morgan Moore, Ryan Moore, Kya Laubisch, and Ava Laubisch.

There will be no services or funeral. Donations can be made in memory of Christine to the Montgomery County or Schenectady County SPCA or your local animal shelter.
