In Loving Memory

Lucy Ann Knoche

July 20, 1931 - November 15, 2025

Ann Knoche was born in Denver, Colorado to Emmett and Rouye Dawson, joining a brother Thomas Emmett.  The family lived in Colorado Springs until 1943 and then moved to Coronado, CA.  This was during the height of the war, and she told stories of the blackouts, camouflage netting, rationing, and her father being a neighborhood air raid warden.

Ann graduated from Coronado High School and then attended San Diego State until she met a handsome redheaded naval aviator, John Knoche.  They were married in 1952, and that started a 53-year adventure of being a naval officer’s wife.  There were many moves, but John’s last duty station was North Island in Coronado, CA.  John may have retired, but Ann enjoyed starting a new life of volunteering and working.  She was a long time member of Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church, Coronado Woman’s Club and P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter UD.

John and Ann had 3 children, John Harold, Jr., born in Coronado; Thomas Alfred, born in Beeville, Texas; and Carrie Lee born in Portsmouth, Virginia.

She is predeceased in death by her parents; John in 2005, son Tom in 1990, and her brother Tom in 2016.  She leaves John, Jr., (Julie), Carrie (Bobby), daughter-in-law Mary Jo Griswold (Jim), 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
